Sue Hart
Biography: Sue Hart was born in Austria in 1927. In 1950, she graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London. She married immediately after qualifying as a vet and went to live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She was one of the first woman wildlife vets and performed many pioneering operations on African wildlife, including the lions and cheetahs under the care of George and Joy Adamson of Born Free fame. During the sixties, when she was living in Kenya, she wrote the best seller Life with Daktari, which proved to be a worldwide hit. Dr. Hart was the inspiration for the classic MGM TV series Daktari (Swahili for bush doctor). Dr. Hart is author of more than a dozen books for both adults and children, and she has produced numerous radio and TV series. A number of her prior works are currently being adapted for film and TV by London-based Daktari Productions Ltd.
